These specialist transformers are installed in larger commercial facilities such as hotels, schools, government offices, retail outlets and factories. Savings Explained

There are two reasons why these savings are possible. Firstly, the UK and some European power generation and transmission systems were designed to provide voltage at around 240 volts. However electrical equipment is generally designed to operate at 220 Volts.

Secondly, power supply companies are required to maintain a minimum voltage throughout the entire distribution system. In order to achieve this, electricity suppliers provide a higher voltage at the power substation because there are natural voltage losses which increase with distance. As substations are often located close to larger users they are more likely to receive voltage greater than is necessary.

Carbon Emissions

There is a direct connection between electricity consumption and CO2 / greenhouse gas emissions. This is because a large proportion of electricity in the United Kingdom is produced by either oil or coal-fired power stations.

There are established formulas available to calculate carbon emissions per kilowatt hour of electricity and this these can be used following installation of the transformers to demonstrate carbon footprint reductions.

VoltageMaster is recognised as eligible energy saving equipment by the Carbon Trust and Active Energy is registered as a supplier of such equipment, with interest-free loan funding having been approved for customers purchasing VoltageMaster. We are able to assist with the funding process by submitting a loan application on our clients' behalf.
